What a weekend…This picture is very raw. It’s not professional, it’s not perfect, I’m not dolled up with my hair and makeup done, it’s not flattering, but it very accurately depicts what I’ve been going through over this weekend, this week, and even the last 6 months. But holding my sweet baby after such a terrible weekend was the most amazing and healing thing ever. So here’s a little recap for those that aren’t super familiar with my situation. In May of this year, at about 4 months pregnant, I was diagnosed with gallstones (after several trips to the hospital with some of the worst pain I’ve ever felt!) There was no immediate reason to take my gallbladder out at that time and the risk to take it out during pregnancy was much greater, so I was put on a non-fat diet and was able to keep the attacks under control until I had my sweet babe. After he was born I scheduled a surgery date for November 18th to get my gallbladder removed and I couldn’t wait for that day!! Well last Saturday and Sunday I got really sick. I had a gallbladder attack and also thought I had the flu. I was so sick off and on all week only feeling better for a few hours at a time. I hadn’t been eating anything fatty and just couldn’t believe it was all gallbladder issues. I couldn’t keep anything down and became dehydrated and even more sick. I looked and felt like a zombie. Yesterday morning the pain got so bad and the attacks got worse so we decided it was time to take me to the hospital to get things checked out. When we got there they did an ultrasound to see what was going on. They found that several stones had become dislodged from my gallbladder and were stuck in my bile duct. The stones were so big that my duct was almost as big as my gallbladder. The stones were blocking the duct which was creating bile build up in my body and causing my liver to be agitated and my jaundice levels to go up. They said if I had waited much longer to come in or until my original surgery date this could have become a life threatening issue. LUCKILY it was not life threatening at this point and they took me straight up to the operating room for emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder and the stones. The surgery to remove my gallbladder went really well, but they weren’t able to get all the stones out of my bile duct. So this morning they had to go in with a scope through my mouth to remove the rest of them. This procedure was a success as well and I am FINALLY free of gallstones! NOW on top of all that I had a newborn baby to take care of. With how sick I have been this week there were times I couldn’t even lift him out of his crib to nurse him and at some points couldn’t even nurse at all the pain was so bad. I am extremely blessed though and have such a wonderful husband and parents that have taken such good care of him for me while I’ve been dealing with everything. They have feed him and held him when I couldn’t and made sure he was safe, healthy and happy! Last night he stayed at my parents while I was in the hospital and it was SO difficult and hard being away from him. The first thing I said when I came out of my anesthesia both times was “where is my baby? I need to see my baby!” So when my amazing parents (who have taken such good care of him during all this) brought him up to see me this morning it made everything SO much better! They let me go home this afternoon and I am now on the mends! I’m extremely sore and in pain, but I am going to feel SO much better after this. The best part of this as well is now I can eat WHATEVER I want (in moderation!) So you better believe I got a chocolate malt on my way home haha and if anyone wants to bring me some ice cream you’re more than welcome to 😉 Thanks to everyone who has reached out to me and kept me in their prayers! I love you all! Here’s to no more hospital visits!!
