Bumps and Braids: Weeks 14 & 15
When I first found out I was pregnant I was determined to take cute chalkboard bump pictures every week. Then somehow week 14 came around and I hadn’t taken any! I wasn’t showing at all so I was tempted to just do week 4-14 in one day, but decided it would kind of be cheating and way too much work. (Chalkboard writing is not as easy as it looks!) So last week I decided it was time to start documenting this pregnancy and what better way to do that than with bumps AND braids! It seemed just perfect to add in different braids to my bump pictures every week since this blog IS all about hair and makeup 😉 So from now on you’ll HOPEFULLY be getting a weekly Bumps and Braids picture from me! I am also going to start doing more blog posts for mommy’s and mommy’s to be! Lots of fun stuff and changes coming to the blog so be on the lookout!
This week you’re getting two updates! Week 14 and week 15! (As of today I am 15 weeks and two days!) Time sure is flying!
How far along? 14 weeks (3 Months down, 6 to go!) We have now also officially entered the Second Trimester!
How Big is baby? Baby is the size of a Peach!! It’s come so far from the little poppyseed it started out as! (speaking of peaches those sound really good!)
Weight Gained? I was super sick in the first Trimester and could hardly eat anything! From the time I found out I was pregnant (at 4 weeks) to my first Doctors Visit at 9 weeks I lost 15 pounds! ( (My doctor wasn’t too happy, but I wasn’t complaining! I thought pregnancy would make me gain tons of weight not lose a bunch!) Baby was growing normal and healthy despite my weight loss, but my doctor wanted me to start gaining just a little more weight! I might have took her advice too literally and had one too many milkshakes because at my 13 week appointment I had gained 5 pounds!
Maternity clothes? I haven’t bought any actual maternity clothes yet, but leggings and loose fitting shirts are my best friends! Jeans sometimes hurt my tummy and I’m still in the awkward chubby belly, not really a bump yet, stage so I stay away from tight fitting shirts for now!
Stretch marks? Not yet! Hoping they stay away as long as possible!
Sleep? They say the frequent bathroom trips should stop at the beginning of the second trimester, but that’s not true for me! I still get up several times a night to use the bathroom! I am also starting to get uncomfortable! I can’t sleep on my back or stomach anymore and I’m getting tired of sleeping on my sides already!
Best moment this week? We found out the gender of our Baby!! Fetal Fotos lets you come in to find out at 14 weeks so we went at exactly 14 weeks and they were able to tell…IT’S A BOY! We are SO excited. I cried (happy tears) when we found out and could’t stop! I blame the hormones.
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back and stomach!
Movement? Can’t feel anything yet! I know he’s a little mover though, because every time we get an ultrasound he’s jumping around in there! It’s so crazy that I can’t feel him move yet.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Brushing my teeth!! Every time I brush my teeth I gag and sometimes throw up!
Cravings? Nothings too crazy, just milkshakes mostly!
Labor Signs? Nope! And let’s hope it stays that way for a while!
Symptoms? Having to go to the bathroom ALL the time, and really bad headaches!!
Belly Button in or out? In!
Wedding rings on or off? On..and off! Depends on if my hands are swollen or not that day!
Happy or Moody most of the time? I think I’m pretty happy, but Brandon might say otherwise! lol
Looking forward to? Getting to finally buy stuff for baby now we know the gender!
This weeks braid? A pulled apart side dutch braid! I used my Laced hair extensions for this braid and put the extensions in at a diagonal from my part to my ear. That way when I braided those front pieces it wasn’t super thin compared to the bottom of the braid!
How far along? 15 weeks! (and two days in this picture!)
How Big is Baby? Baby is now the size of an Orange! He weighs 2.5 ounces and is 4 inches long! Getting so big every week!
Weight Gained? Lost 3 pounds! I’ve been eating healthy and frequently as well as exercising and baby is still growing healthy and big so I’m taking this as a win for now!
Maternity clothes? Still haven’t bought any! Just sticking with my leggings and baggy shirts!
Stretch marks? Nope!
Sleep? Still getting up several times a night and my restless legs have really kicked in this week! Sleep wasn’t too great this week.
Best moment this week? Felt baby move for the first time! It was just a little flutter as I was trying to get comfortable to go to sleep, but it was so cool!
Miss Anything? Being able to work more! I am SO tired that I can’t work more than a few hours a day.
Movement? Little flutters here and there, but nothing too big!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Brushing my teeth again! And certain smells.
Cravings? Wendy’s frosty! Also chicken salad sandwiches from cutlers! I’ve had 3 this week!
Gender? BOY! Hoping they don’t tell us differently at our 20 week appointment.
Labor Signs? No (thank goodness!)
Symptoms? This week has been a rough one. I thought I was finally past the sick stage but I’ve had lots of cramps, headaches, nausea, throwing up, and back pain. I went to the doctor to make sure everything was okay and she said baby was fine and I just had a little stomach bug on top of normal symptoms. I might just be so lucky to have sickness the WHOLE pregnancy and not just the first trimester! (boo!) I have also been REALLY tired.
Wedding rings on or off? Depends on the day.
Happy or Moody most of the time? I’ve been pretty moody this week. Being sick and pregnant is no fun!
Looking forward to? Not being sick!
This weeks braid? A milkmaid braid! This is one of my favorite braids to do and is SO easy! I haven’t had much energy or been in the mood to do stuff this week, so this was a perfect braid to help me still feel pretty even when I’m sick! I used my laced hair extensions again to create this look. Click Here to see my full tutorial on how I do this braid!
