Even the professional needs a professional!
My wedding was a fairytale and I loved EVERYTHING about it, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have some bumps along the way! As our one year anniversary approaches I thought I’d give tips to future brides about what I learned from my wedding and wished someone would have told me! So for my first tip what’s better to talk about than hiring a professional hair and makeup artist!?
I have always done my own hair and makeup for high school dances and formal events I have been to, so of course I would do it for my wedding. I know my hair best and what I like right? While that is definitely true, but a wedding is MUCH different than a high school dance. The stress and pressure was amplified and I had a million other details and things to worry about! So here are the two mistakes I made and hopefully can help you avoid by letting ME do your hair and makeup!
- I didn’t schedule a trial run with myself! That is one of the most important things I tell my brides to do and I DIDNT DO IT! I had a million ideas from Pinterest, but hair styles look different on everyone and the things I thought I liked I didn’t once I started doing my hair. Sometimes you think you’re dead set on a style but see it on yourself and absolutely hate it! This is where trial runs become extremely vital to the wedding planning process! You don’t want to worry about how you want your hair or makeup done on your wedding day. It truly made the day much more stressful for me to hate everything I tried to do and have so little time to do it! Which bring me to my next mistake
- I didn’t have a set a time to do my hair and makeup on my wedding day! Brandon and I were married in the LDS Manti Temple and had to travel 2 1/2 hours to get there so I had to be up pretty early. I knew we had to leave at 8 but didn’t think about what time I would do my hair and makeup. I ended up sleeping through my alarm and waking up late and because I only had myself to answer to and not a HAMUA I took my time getting up (even though I was late.) I ended up running out of time and didn’t even get to curl my hair and had to do my makeup in the car! I was SO frustrated. I ended up having time after our ceremony to do my hair more, but it wasn’t how I wanted it at all.
Everything ended up working out fine, BUT I stressed myself out way more than I needed to! It would have been so much easier to let someone else worry about my hair and makeup and know for certain it would get done. With each of my brides I make sure we know exactly what we are doing way before the actual wedding day to assure the bride feels and looks her absolute best on her big day! I take care of all the scheduling, the traveling, touch ups throughout the day, products, hair pieces, veil placement, false lashes, lipstick and just about anything else beauty related you can think of! Weddings are stressful so it’s nice to let some of the stress off on someone else. I am more than willing to take that stress so contact me today and let’s set up a free consultation to talk about your wedding day!
